Why people look for a pdfFiller alternative
pdfFiller's pricing page, read October 27, 2026, lists three plans for individuals: Basic at US$8 a month with an annual commitment (US$20 month-to-month), Plus at US$12 (US$30) and Premium at US$15 (US$40). Some people only need to fill in a form now and then and do not want a plan at that price.
pdfFiller's security page says documents are edited, stored and transferred in pdfFiller, with data kept in the AWS cloud. That suits people who want their documents kept online and reachable anywhere. Others would rather not put a lease, contract or tax form on a service at all.
A third reason is features you do not use. The higher pdfFiller plans add things like web forms and user management, which a person filling in one form never touches.
When PDFinish fits
- You mostly fill in forms, sign your own PDFs, merge, compress or protect a file.
- You want the file to stay on your device, with no account to start.
- You want a low, plain price: Pro is $2.99 a month at the intro price, $24 a year, or $50 once for the first 500 founders.
- You want a library of official government forms you can fill out in your browser.
When it does not
- You want your documents kept online in an account and reachable from any device. PDFinish does not keep a library of your files for you.
- You need reusable templates of your own or the US Legal Forms library. pdfFiller lists these on its Plus and Premium plans. To send a PDF for other people to sign, Request Signatures is included in Pro.
- You need a vendor that states SOC 2 Type II or HIPAA compliance, or integrations with CRMs and cloud platforms. pdfFiller's security page lists the compliance statements, and its pricing page mentions integrations.
- You need team features such as user and permission management or custom branding.
- You need to rewrite text that runs across pages or mixes fonts and styles. pdfFiller lists erasing and re-writing; PDFinish changes a line or a whole paragraph at a time, removes the old words from the file, and rewraps a paragraph inside its own box in one font, size and color.
- You need a Word file that matches your PDF's layout closely. pdfFiller lists converting PDFs to editable Word documents. PDFinish rebuilds the page as editable text and leaves out boxes, lines and colors.
