Common questions

How can I make my signature?

Draw it with your finger, mouse or stylus (it works in a phone browser too), type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of a signature on paper. You can make initials the same way.

Is this a legally binding signature?

Sign PDF places a picture of your signature on the page. It is not a certificate-based digital signature. Whether an electronic signature is accepted for a particular document depends on the document and your local rules. This is general information, not legal or tax advice. Check your local rules or ask a professional.

Is my signature uploaded or stored?

No. It stays in your browser tab. If you tick Remember on this device, a copy is kept in your browser's storage on that device only, and you can remove it any time with Forget.

Can I add the date or type text next to my signature?

Yes. Add a date in the format you choose, or a line of text, and place it anywhere on the page.

Can I send a document to someone else to sign?

Not yet. Sign PDF is for your own signature. Sending a document for others to sign is a separate paid add-on we are building, and you can join the waitlist on the Request Signatures page.

Is my file uploaded when I use Sign PDF?

No. Your document and signature are handled in your browser. The file is not sent to our servers.

Is Sign PDF free, and are there limits?

You can use it free. Without an account you get 2 tasks a day, and a free account (just an email address) raises that to 10. Free files can be up to 50 MB. Pro removes the daily limit and allows files up to 500 MB. We check the limits before a task starts, so a finished file is never held back.
