Handouts, packets and answer keys, sorted in your browser

Merge worksheets into one handout, pull the pages you need out of a scanned packet, and lock an answer key with a password. The tools on this page run in your browser, so there is nothing to install and your files are not uploaded.

Free to try: 2 tasks a day with no account, 10 with a free account. Each tool step counts as one task. Merging a handout and locking it is two steps.

Student information stays in your browser for the tools on this page. Word, Excel and PowerPoint to PDF upload the file to our server. We cannot speak for your school or district, so check its rules before you use any online tool with student records.

The paperwork of a school week, job by job

  • Combine handouts

Add the worksheets, readings and a cover page, put them in order, and merge them into one PDF. Add page numbers so students can find the page you mean. If the file is too big for your class page, open Compress PDF and keep the Balanced setting.

Tools: Merge PDF, Add Page Numbers, Compress PDF.

  • Pull pages from a packet

Scanned a whole packet but need only a few pages? Pick them and save them as a new file. Your original is not changed. Rotate any page that scanned sideways.

Tools: Extract PDF Pages, Rotate PDF, Delete PDF Pages.

  • Lock an answer key

Add a password so only people who have it can open the file. Choose a long phrase and keep it somewhere safe, because nobody, including us, can recover a lost password. Keep an unprotected copy too.

    Tools: Protect PDF.

  • Fill in school forms

Type into a field trip or permission form your school gave you, then sign it if you need to. PDFinish has no permission slip template yet, so start from your school's own form.

Tools: Fill PDF, Sign PDF, Edit PDF.

Four tools cover most of it

The tools above run in your browser, so your files are not uploaded. Word, Excel and PowerPoint to PDF are the exceptions: they upload the file to our server and delete it when the conversion finishes.

Pricing

Free to start, one small price for no limits

Start free: 2 tasks a day with no account, 10 with a free account, and files up to 50 MB. Each tool step counts as one task, so merging a handout and locking it is two.

If you prepare materials most days, Pro is $2.99 a month or $24 a year ($2 a month). It gives unlimited tasks and files up to 500 MB. Cancel in one click. We email you 7 days before a yearly renewal and 3 days before a monthly one, so a charge never surprises you.

Prefer to pay once? The Lifetime founder deal is $50, limited to 500 seats, and covers all current and future Pro features. Sending documents for signature will be a separate add-on and is not included.

Questions, answered

Are my students' files uploaded?

No. Merge, Extract, Protect and Fill run in your browser, so the file stays on your device. Word, Excel and PowerPoint to PDF are the exceptions: they upload the file to our server and delete it when the conversion finishes. The page tells you before you start.

Can I use this with student information?

The tools that run in your browser never send us the file. We cannot speak for your school's or district's rules, though. Check them, or ask your IT team, before you use any online tool with student records.

Do I need to install anything?

No. PDFinish runs in a web page, so there is nothing to install. If your district blocks pdfinish.com, ask your IT team to allow it.

How strong is the password on an answer key?

Protect PDF uses AES-256 encryption, and the password is set in your browser. Anyone opening the file needs it. Nobody, including us, can recover a lost password, so keep it somewhere safe.

Can I make a permission slip with PDFinish?

Not from a template yet. If your school gave you a PDF form, open it in Fill PDF and type into its fields. If a PDF has no fields, Edit PDF lets you type anywhere on the page.

How do I make a big handout small enough to upload?

Merge the files first, then open Compress PDF. Balanced is the default. It shrinks photos and leaves text as it is, so worksheets stay sharp and selectable. A handout with few photos may not get smaller, and Compress says so. Strong turns pages into pictures, so keep it for photo scans.

Open a tool and finish the handout

Drop in your files and work right in the browser. Nothing to install. Your first 2 tasks each day need no account.
