Terms of Service

Last updated: October 23, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and PDFinish when you use our website and tools. Please read them. We wrote them in plain language.

1. The service

PDFinish gives you tools to work with PDF files in your web browser, plus templates and optional paid plans. Most tools process your files on your own device, and we say so on each tool page when something works differently.

We may add, change or remove tools and features. If we remove something you paid for, we will tell you and offer a fair remedy.

2. Accounts

You can use some tools without an account. A free account uses just your email address. We sign you in with a link we email you, so there is no password to keep.

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your email inbox secure. You must be at least 16 years old, or have a parent or guardian agree to these terms for you.

3. Plans, limits and billing

Without an account you can finish 2 tasks a day. With a free account you can finish 10 a day. Free files can be up to 50 MB each. Limits are checked before a task starts, and we never hold a finished file back.

Pro costs $2.99 a month (an introductory price; existing subscribers keep their price if prices rise later) or $24 a year ($2 a month, billed yearly). Pro has unlimited tasks, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint conversions, all templates, files up to 500 MB (conversions up to 50 MB), batch mode (several PDFs at once) in Compress, Rotate, Page numbers, Watermark and Protect and early access to new tools. There is no daily or fair-use cap on paid plans. Team plans have custom pricing; we agree the terms with you by email before you pay.

Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. We email you 7 days before a yearly renewal and 3 days before a monthly one, so a charge never surprises you. Prices are shown before you pay, and taxes are added where the law requires.

Payments are processed by Link, Stripe's checkout service, which is the seller of record for your purchase and sends your receipt. Your card statement shows LINK.COM* PDFINISH. We do not see or store your full card number.

4. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel in one click from your account page. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for, and it does not renew.

You can ask for a full refund within 14 days of a payment, for a subscription or for Lifetime. Email us at the address below and say which payment; we ask Link to refund it to the card you paid with. After 14 days, payments are not refundable unless the law says otherwise.

5. Lifetime deal

The Lifetime founder deal is a one-time payment of $50. It is limited to the first 500 buyers (seats). When the seats are gone, the deal ends.

Lifetime covers all current and future PDFinish Pro features, for as long as we run the service. Separate add-ons, such as sending documents for signature, are not included and may be sold separately. We say so on the pricing page.

Lifetime means for as long as PDFinish runs. If we ever close PDFinish, we will email Lifetime customers at least 60 days before. If we close within 12 months of your Lifetime purchase, we refund your Lifetime payment in full. If we close later, we refund what you paid minus what Pro would have cost you for the time you had Lifetime, at the yearly Pro price when you bought it, if that leaves anything. Refunds go to the card you paid with, through Link.

6. Acceptable use

Please use PDFinish lawfully and fairly. You agree not to:

  • use the tools to work on files you have no right to use, or to infringe someone else's rights;
  • try to break, overload or reverse engineer the service, or get around usage limits;
  • use the Unlock tool on a file you do not own or have permission to change, or try to guess passwords;
  • use the service to spread malware or to break the law.

We may pause or close an account that breaks these rules. We will tell you why where we can.

7. Your files and content

Your files stay yours. Files you open in browser-based tools are processed on your device and are not uploaded to us. The exception is Word, Excel and PowerPoint to PDF, which send the file to our converter and delete it as soon as the conversion finishes. Any tool that sends a file to our servers says so before you add the file.

We do not claim any rights in your files. You give us only the permission we need to run a tool you start.

Templates, guides and form tools are for general use. They are not legal, tax or immigration advice, and using them does not create a lawyer-client relationship. Laws vary by place. Check your local rules or ask a qualified professional before you rely on a document.

9. Disclaimers

We work hard to make PDFinish reliable, but we provide it as is and as available. We do not promise it will always be error-free or available, or that every PDF will work in every tool. Keep a copy of important originals.

10. Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, PDFinish is not liable for indirect, incidental or lost-profit losses. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 50 US dollars. Some places do not allow these limits, so they apply only as far as local law permits.

11. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or on the site before the change takes effect. If you keep using PDFinish after that, you accept the new terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute we cannot settle by email goes to the state or federal courts in Santa Clara County, California, and both of us accept those courts' jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in the EU or the UK, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
