Why use PDFinish for Word to PDF

  • The upload, stated up front

This tool uploads your file to our server to convert it. It is deleted as soon as the conversion finishes. We never keep or look at your files.

  • Plain about the upload

This is one of the few PDFinish tools that sends your file to our server, and the page says so before you add anything. The copy on our server is deleted the moment the conversion ends.

  • Macros and outside links stay off

The converter does not run macros and does not fetch anything from web addresses inside your Word document, so a file cannot make our server reach out.

  • No sign-up to begin

Your first 2 tasks each day need no account. Add an email later if you want 10 a day.

  • Honest pricing

Free to start. Pro starts at $2.99 a month and cancels in one click. We show your usage from the first page load and check limits before a task begins, never after.

Common questions

Is my file uploaded when I use Word to PDF?

Yes. Turning an Office file into a PDF needs more than a browser can do, so the file goes to our server over an encrypted connection. It is converted there and deleted as soon as the conversion finishes, whether it works or fails. We do not keep copies, read your files or use them for anything else. Our PDF tools that only work on PDFs, such as merge, split and sign, still run in your browser.

How closely does the PDF match my Word document?

Very closely for most documents. Text, tables, pictures and page breaks carry over. If your document uses a font we do not have, a similar font is used, so a line can break in a slightly different place. Check the PDF before you send it.

Which Word files can I convert?

Files ending in .docx, .doc, .odt (OpenDocument) and .rtf, up to 50 MB. Documents with a password on them cannot be opened by the converter.

Do macros or links in my document run?

No. Macros are switched off, and the converter does not fetch pictures or content from web addresses inside your document. Pictures that are only linked, not saved in the file, will not appear.

Can I use Word to PDF on my phone?

Yes. It works in the browser on a phone or tablet, as long as you are online, because the conversion happens on our server.

Is Word to PDF free, and are there limits?

You can use it free. Each finished conversion counts as one task: 2 a day without an account, 10 a day with a free account, and no daily limit with Pro. Files can be up to 50 MB. The limit is checked before the file is sent, and a conversion that fails is not counted.
