When a business asks you to sign a form on your phone through PDFinish, we keep a record of the signing. This page says what is in it, why, and for how long.
When you sign a document through PDFinish, we record:
If you decline, we record that you declined and nothing is signed.
We do not record your location, a photo, or any biometric data.
We record this so that the business can show who signed what and when, and so that anyone can check that a signed copy has not been altered. The events are stored in order, and each one covers the one before it, so a change to the history can be detected.
We do not check who you are. The record shows the name and email address you typed and that they were used on the device above; it does not prove who was holding the device.
We do not use this record for advertising or for our own marketing. Your email address is used only to send you your copy.
You receive a copy of the signed document, with a certificate page that lists these events. The business that asked you to sign receives the same record with your signed document. PDFinish stores it for the business.
Signed documents and their records are kept for 365 days after signing, then deleted. The business can delete one sooner. If you decline, or start and do not finish, the record is deleted after 30 days or less.
To ask for a paper copy or for the record to be deleted, contact the business that asked you to sign.
You do not have to sign electronically. You can decline before you sign, and nothing is signed; you can ask the business for a paper form. Under the U.S. E-SIGN Act, a signature cannot be denied legal effect only because it is electronic.
