Common questions

How do I convert a ZIP file to PDF?

Add the .zip file, look over the list of files in page order, then press Convert to PDF. The PDF downloads from the result screen. Pictures, PDFs and .txt files inside the zip are used; other files are listed as left out.

What can be inside the zip?

Pictures (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF and AVIF, plus HEIC where your browser can read it), PDFs, and plain .txt files. Word, Excel and other files inside are left out, and the list shows which. Convert those first with their own tools, then zip them again.

In what order do the pages come out?

Natural order of the file names, folder by folder: page2.jpg comes before page10.jpg, and a folder's files stay together. The order is shown before you convert so you can check it. To use a different order, rename the files in the zip, or arrange the result with Organize PDF.

Why was my zip refused?

A zip is refused if it has a password, holds more than 2,000 files, unpacks to more than 500 MB, or is damaged. These limits keep your browser from running out of memory. For a very large zip, split it into smaller zips and convert each one.

Does it open password-protected zips?

No. Password-protected zips are refused with a plain message, and we do not try to guess or bypass passwords. Unzip it on your computer with your password, zip the files again without one, and add that zip here.

Is my file uploaded when I use ZIP to PDF?

No. Your zip is opened and turned into a PDF in your browser. The file is not sent to our servers.

Is ZIP to PDF free, and are there limits?

You can use it free. You get 2 free uses in total, no account needed. Free files can be up to 50 MB. Pro has no limit on uses and allows files up to 500 MB. We check the limits before a use starts, so a finished file is never held back.

Can I use ZIP to PDF on a Windows PC?

Yes. Open this page in Chrome or Edge on your PC, add your file and download the result. Nothing to install, and your file stays on your device.

How do I convert a ZIP to PDF?

Add your .zip file to ZIP to PDF, check the list of files in page order, and download one PDF. The zip is opened in your browser and is not sent to our servers. Pictures become pages, PDFs inside are joined in, and .txt files become text pages.

How do I convert a ZIP to PDF for free?

Use ZIP to PDF. You get 2 free uses in total with no account, and one conversion counts as one use. Free files can be up to 50 MB each. Pro has no limit on uses and allows files up to 500 MB.

Is it safe to convert a ZIP to PDF online?

With ZIP to PDF, your zip is opened inside your browser and is not sent to our servers. Nothing inside it is run, so a program in the zip does nothing. You can check this yourself in your browser's network tab while you convert, where no request carries your zip.

Can I convert a ZIP of pictures to one PDF?

Yes. Every JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF or AVIF picture in the zip becomes a page, in natural file-name order. Choose to fit each page to its picture, or use A4 or US Letter. A GIF uses its first frame, and a multi-page TIFF gives one page per frame.

Can I convert a ZIP on my phone?

Yes. It works in the browser on a phone or tablet: choose the .zip from your files, check the list, press Convert to PDF and save the result. A zip of many large photos needs a lot of memory, so it may go faster on a computer.

What happens to files in the zip that are not pictures?

PDFs are joined in with all their pages, and .txt files become text pages. Anything else, such as Word files, spreadsheets, videos and folders' hidden system files, is left out, and the list before you convert shows each one with the reason. Nothing is lost from your original zip.

Can I convert a ZIP with folders inside?

Yes. Files in folders are included and sorted folder by folder in natural order, so a folder's files stay together. A folder's own files come before its subfolders. Zips inside the zip are not opened; they are listed as left out. Hidden system files such as .DS_Store are ignored.

Is there a size limit for a ZIP?

Yes. The zip itself can be up to 50 MB on a free use and 500 MB on Pro. Whatever the plan, an archive that unpacks to more than 500 MB, or holds more than 2,000 files, is refused so your browser does not run out of memory.

Can I convert a comic book archive?

Yes. A .cbz comic is a zip of pictures, so it works here, and CBZ to PDF is made for it: one page per picture, each page the size of its picture. A .cbr comic is a RAR file, which we do not read. Save it as .cbz first.

Can I make the PDF smaller or join it with another?

Yes. A zip of photos can make a large PDF, so shrink it with Compress PDF, or join it to other files with Merge PDF. Both run in your browser too, so your files still never leave your device, and each one counts as one of your free uses.
