It is narrower than a general NDA, which covers information shared over weeks or months.
Can a company ask visitors to sign an NDA?
In general, yes. An NDA is a contract, and a company can ask a visitor to agree before entering non-public areas. Some visitors refuse, especially senior ones, so keep the form to one page, say exactly what it covers, and give them a copy. Rules vary, so ask a lawyer about your case.
Should an interview candidate sign an NDA?
Companies often ask, and it is fair when the form is short and limited to what the candidate sees in non-public areas. A candidate should stay free to talk about their own skills, experience and any offer. The candidate version of this form says so. A candidate can ask what the form covers before signing.
Does a visitor NDA stop someone working for a competitor?
No. This form covers only what the visitor sees or hears in non-public areas during the visit. It has no non-compete clause and no promise to forget what was seen. Limits on where someone can work belong in a separate contract, and state rules on those differ, so a lawyer should write them.
How long should a visitor NDA last?
A visit often involves information that dates quickly, so one to three years is often enough. Type the number of years on the form. A long term is harder to justify for a one-hour visit. For sensitive trade secrets, or a contractor with deeper access, a lawyer can advise on a longer term.
