How to convert WebP to PDF

To convert WebP to PDF, add your WebP images to WebP to PDF, put them in the order you want, choose a page size, and press Convert to PDF. Each image becomes one page in a single file. The conversion runs in your browser, so your pictures stay on your device.

You saved a few pictures from a web page, and now they are WebP files that half your programs refuse to open. You want one tidy PDF you can email or print. WebP to PDF does that in a few clicks, and it needs no account and no install.

This guide walks through the steps, explains what happens to quality and to see-through areas, and lists the things that most often go wrong. It also shows a worked example from start to finish.

What is a WebP, and why turn it into a PDF?

WebP is a picture format that many websites and browsers use because the files are small. The catch is that some programs cannot open it. A PDF opens almost anywhere, keeps your pictures in order, and is easy to attach to an email. That is why people convert.

How do I convert WebP to PDF?

Add your WebP images, drag them into order, choose Fit to image, A4 or US Letter, and press Convert to PDF. Then download the file. Each picture becomes one page, and the first picture on the screen becomes page one.

  1. Add your images. Drop your WebP pictures onto the tool, or choose them from your device. You can add them all at once.
  2. Put them in order. Drag the pictures until the list matches the page order you want. The order on screen is the order in the PDF.
  3. Pick a page size. Fit to image makes each page the shape of its picture. A4 and US Letter give you a standard sheet, with portrait, landscape or automatic, and a margin of none, small or large.
  4. Press Convert to PDF.
  5. Download the finished file and open it once to check the pages.

A worked example

A freelancer saves three WebP mock-ups from a client's web page: a header, a menu and a footer. She adds all three to the tool, drags the footer to the end, chooses A4 with a small margin, and presses Convert to PDF. She downloads a three-page PDF with the header first, the menu second and the footer last, and sends that one file instead of three attachments.

Does converting WebP to PDF lose quality?

A very small amount, not none. Your browser reads each WebP, and it is saved in the PDF as a high-quality JPEG. You get a very close copy, but not a bit-for-bit one. Look at the page at full size if the detail matters, such as fine print in a screenshot.

What happens to see-through areas?

They turn white. Each picture is placed on a white page, so a WebP with a see-through background comes out with a white one. If you need to keep the transparency, use a PNG instead of a WebP.

Can I mix WebP with other picture types?

Yes. JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP and TIFF pictures work on the same page, so one PDF can hold a mix, one page each. JPG and PNG files go in as they are. WebP to PDF and Image to PDF are the same tool under different names.

If you have a TIFF scan to add, see how to convert TIFF to PDF. If you already have a PDF and want to add pictures to it, make a PDF from the pictures first, then join the two with Merge PDF. The guide on attaching a JPG to a PDF shows that idea in more detail.

Common problems and fixes

  • The pages are in the wrong order. Drag the pictures into order before you press Convert to PDF.
  • The background went white. That is how the tool treats see-through areas. Use a PNG if you must keep transparency.
  • The picture looks a little softer than the original. WebP is re-saved as a JPEG inside the PDF, so a close copy is expected. Check the page at full size.
  • The page is cropped or padded. Choose Fit to image, which makes each page the shape of its picture. A4 and US Letter fit the picture onto a standard sheet, so a margin of none, small or large changes the space around it.
  • The PDF is too big to email. Run it through Compress PDF. The guide on why a PDF is so big explains what makes files large.
  • You cannot search or copy the words in a screenshot. Pictures hold images of words, not the words themselves. Run the PDF through OCR PDF, which reads English and adds hidden text.

Where does your file go?

Your pictures are placed into the PDF in your browser. They are not sent to our servers. That matters when the images are private, such as a screenshot of an account page or photos of a rental unit. Your original WebP files are not changed.

A short checklist

  • Keep your original WebP files.
  • Put the pictures in the order you want before you convert.
  • Choose Fit to image if you do not want any cropping or padding.
  • Open the finished PDF and look at every page.
  • Compress it only if the file is too big to send.

2 free uses in total, no account needed. Free files can be up to 50 MB, and Pro allows up to 500 MB.
