Acrobat Reader can show you messages while you work. This guide follows Adobe's own help page, [Messages from Adobe](https://helpx.adobe.com/reader/using/messages.html), which we read on October 27, 2026. PDFinish is not affiliated with Adobe.

## What the messages are

Adobe calls them in-product marketing messages. They are Adobe's own promotions about its features, updates and online services, not ads from other companies. According to Adobe's help page, Acrobat Reader shows them on the Welcome Screen and in the lower-left corner while you view a document.

## Turn them off

1. Open Adobe Acrobat Reader.
2. Open Preferences.
3. Go to General.
4. Find Messages From Adobe and turn off the in-product marketing messages there.

That path, Preferences, General, Messages From Adobe, is the one Adobe's page gives. Menu names and the exact option can differ by version and system, so if yours looks different, follow [Adobe's help page](https://helpx.adobe.com/reader/using/messages.html).

## What you can and cannot turn off

- In-product marketing messages about features, updates and online services can be turned off in Preferences.
- Transactional messages cannot be turned off. Adobe's page says so.
